We are a parent led charity supporting families with a loved one with Down’s Syndrome in East Lincolnshire covering the following districts East Lindsey; Boston; South Holland.
We continue to create strong support networks, linking in with our local community, raising awareness, signposting to specialist training and providing events and opportunities for our members.
3:21 Family Group: This is our fortnightly support session which welcomes the whole family. During these sessions we provide soft play, activities and crafts. This group also provides the opportunity to share experience, ask questions and make friendships.
Cooking For Life: Our popular session for all ages, where members can try new food and learn some new skills. This session takes place during a 3:21 Family Group session.
Monthly multi-sport sessions with Special Olympics: Lincolnshire: These sessions provide fun sporting activities with an experienced coach catering for all abilities. Our aim is working towards competing locally, nationally and internationally, with the ultimate aim of competing at a future Special Olympics.
Mini Police: We are working with Lincolnshire Police with an adapted Mini Police programme. Our members have the opportunity to take part in fun activities, with insight into the role of police officers, whilst also learning some skills to help us stay safe.
Regular themed events: These are events for the whole family and include celebrating World Down’s Syndrome Day, Christmas parties and horse therapy days.
Sibling Council: Our siblings have formed a council to provide us feedback three times a year to help shape the direction our charity goes in.
Sibling roles: We are extremely fortunate to have two extraordinary siblings in our charity who have taken on official roles to support us. We have a very gifted Sibling Reporter, Zoe and a very talented Sibling Photographer, Logan. Please click the link ‘Zoe’s Blog’ and visit our gallery for ‘Logan’s Perspective’ to see what they have been up too!
Yearly sibling only event: Where siblings can build on their friendships and the support networks they have created and have some fun.
Resource library: with thanks to the Rotary Club Boston st Botolph, we have a library of resources to support the education of our young members.
