Having a brother with down syndrome (like my brother Coen) is a quite positive experience. It can be sometimes easy to be overlooked, but sometimes my brother needs to be top priority. Sometimes it’s not as easy as something else or my method in helping him might have to be different but it helps all the same.
The East Lincolnshire Down Syndrome’s Family Support Group hosts the 3:21 family group and, if possible, we go every fortnight to the group. There, we have the opportunity to play, hang out, have fun and (for the parents) chat.
When there are more kids there that have siblings with down syndrome, it’s not difficult to bond in that environment. They understand and are kind and friendly.
